Born in Philadelphia and raised in Willingboro, New Jersey, Shalet's acting career began after she was laid off from her job as a special education teacher.Shalet's breakthrough came when she landed a role in an independent film project, despite having no formal training. She then went on to take acting workshops and classes, which helped her secure more roles.Some of her notable works include HBO's We Own This City, Marvel's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and BET Her's The Pink Fight . Shalet has also worked as a stunt performer in several projects, including Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, HBO’s We Own This City and Disney/FX Class of 09.In addition to her acting career, Shalet is passionate about community outreach and works with youth with special needs and disabilities .
